About
Dr. Tae-Jung Park Ph.D
I am an HCPC registered art psychotherapist based in Stockholm, originally from South Korea. With almost 20 years of experience in the UK, I now work primarily with expats and Swedes in Stockholm who speak English, and with the Korean-speaking population.
I passionately believe that the creative process supports mental well-being and empowers people to develop sustainable coping strategies. In my practice, I use a wide range of art materials to explore creativity and facilitate communication. I provide a welcoming, confidential, and non-judgmental space to foster insight, self-awareness, resilience, and new perspectives through psychodynamic and psychoanalytic art therapy.
My Specialist Area: Migrant & Immigrant Mental Health
I have particular expertise working with migrant and immigrant populations, especially South Koreans living in the UK – both short-term and long-term. Having worked extensively with the Korean community in Britain, I understand the subtle, often unspoken pressures that come with living between cultures.
In my therapy practice, I help clients explore:
-
Identity & belonging – Who am I here? Who was I there?
-
Generational & family dynamics – Raising children abroad, relationships with in-laws, changing roles across generations
-
International marriage – Navigating two sets of expectations, languages, and family systems
-
Loneliness & homesickness – The quiet ache of missing people, places, and a world that made sense
-
Stress from cultural & language barriers – The exhaustion of adapting to new systems, new rules, and a new voice
I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where words may not be enough. Through art-making and psychodynamic conversation, we can give shape to feelings that are hard to name – especially when you’re living far from home.
